Overview

Phil is a founding partner of the firm and has over 30 years of experience practicing in the tax field. As managing partner, Phil has helped guide the growth of the firm to nearly 700 employees and 13 offices. Phil addresses complex issues for clients in the real estate, private equity, professional services, and family office sectors.

Phil has authored numerous technical articles on tax issues included in publications such as the Journal of Taxation, the BNA Bloomberg Tax Management Real Estate Journal, and he co-authored the BNA Bloomberg Tax Management Portfolio on Real Estate Leases. A frequent guest speaker at the USC Gould School of Law Tax Institute and other professional organizations, he served as a part-time faculty member at the University of Southern California Master of Business Taxation Program and is a member of the MBT Board of Advisors for the Leventhal School of Accounting at USC. 

Active in his community, Phil has served in leadership positions on nonprofit boards. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California, summa cum laude, with a Master of Taxation and bachelor’s degree in business administration. He received his JD from Loyola Law School, Order of the Coif. Phil is a recipient of the Elijah Watt Sells award. Phil began his career in public accounting at KPMG LLP.
