A Standard From the Beginning
Holthouse began with a simple conviction: clients shouldn’t have to choose between extraordinary service and extraordinary expertise.
When Phil Holthouse, Jim Carlin and John Van Trigt founded the firm in 1991, they set out
to create something different – a firm with the deep technical mastery to solve highly complex problems and the personal attention, responsiveness and access more often associated with the very best boutique firms.
That meant building a culture where technical excellence and client service were equally important. Where senior experts stayed close to the work and to their clients. Where understanding the broader picture mattered as much as answering the question at hand. And where relationships were built to last.
That philosophy has shaped the firm for more than three decades. As we have grown in size, reach and capabilities, the standard our founders established has remained constant.
Phil remains deeply involved in Holthouse today. After two decades as managing partner, he now serves as Chairman, staying closely connected to our clients, our people and the work of the firm. The expertise, integrity and commitment to clients that shaped Holthouse from the beginning remain deeply embedded in how we work today.
In taking the Holthouse name, we connect the next chapter of our firm to the standards on which it was built. It is a commitment we carry forward together: bringing exceptional expertise and an exceptional client experience together in every engagement.
The name is new. What it stands for has been part of our firm from the beginning.
