Overview

Doug leads HCVT's State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, overseeing a team of more than 25 professionals dedicated to delivering high quality client service. He provides state and local tax services to large and middle-market corporations, flow-through entities, and high-net-worth individuals across a variety of industries. His areas of focus include strategic state tax planning, multistate compliance and reporting, and state and local tax controversy. Doug brings deep technical expertise in California taxation, multistate sales and use tax, personal tax residency planning and controversy, and transaction-related tax matters, with significant experience serving clients in the technology, private equity, and family office sectors.

Prior to joining HCVT, Doug held leadership roles in both public accounting and industry. He served as the national technology industry sector leader for multistate taxes at Deloitte, and as the director of state and local tax at Expedia. He began his career in public accounting at Deloitte, where he served as managing partner for the Pacific Northwest multistate tax practice.

Doug is a Certified Public Accountant in three states and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Taxation from Brigham Young University.
