Overview

Jeff has extensive experience in providing tax planning and consulting services for large global private equity organizations, advising fund entities, management companies, general partner promote vehicles and executive co-investment vehicles. Jeff’s practice includes tax planning for the formation, operation, restructuring, and dissolution of entities, including opportunity fund partnerships, public and private real estate investment trusts, umbrella partnership real estate investment trusts, loan portfolio funds and real estate-owning tax-exempt entities. Jeff’s experience also includes the planning and structuring of business transactions, combinations, separations, dispositions and financings involving both U.S. and non-U.S. entities.

Prior to joining HCVT in 2013, Jeff was a partner at Allen Matkins, a premier California-based law firm specializing in real estate, corporate and partnership taxation, business law, litigation, and labor & employment. While at Allen Matkins, Jeff’s practice was focused on the taxation of partnerships, primarily within the real estate and private equity industry sectors.

Jeff holds an LLM from New York University School of Law, a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Dalhousie University School of Law, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. Jeff is a member of the California Bar Association, Taxation Section, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Taxation Section.
