Garrett has over ten years of public accounting experience and provides tax consulting and compliance services to high net worth individuals and family offices. Garrett believes that tax planning is not a once a year activity. The process should occur in real-time and year-round. He evaluates the tax implications of a business or individual decision in their entirety, assessing the impact on the business, individual, family, and estate. Garrett works with HCVT’s other specialized services, including private equity, state and local, and international tax that results in providing comprehensive planning and implementation of tax planning ideas that tailor specifically for each client and aligned to each client’s overall financial objectives. Throughout his career in public accounting, he has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service, California Franchise Tax Board, and other government agencies.
In serving his high net worth clientele, Garrett addresses the complexities associated with real estate, aircraft, and stock options. His clients include young entrepreneurs with first- generation wealth, and he consults with his clients to maximize the tax savings related to Qualified Small Business Stock.
Garrett also has experience serving clients in the real estate industry sector. He has extensive experience in addressing complex industry-specific taxation issues, including partnership allocations, like-kind exchanges, and asset allocation for depreciation, among others.
Garrett graduated cum laude from California Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and received his Master’s in Taxation from California State University, Northridge. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
