Approaching the last week of our Summer Internship, last but not least, we turn the spotlight to our Camarillo and Westlake Village interns! First up, let’s delve into what the interns have been up to in Camarillo.

Despite being the last week, everyone feels like they are constantly expanding their knowledge at the firm. For Nicholas, he feels that he gained a more in-depth understanding of business and accounting while working at HCVT. Meanwhile, Icy has been learning new audit procedures such as rolling forward binders on PFE and creating Manual Workpapers from the Auditor’s Package. Our tax intern, Alma, is getting more comfortable with GoSystems as she learns how to fill out returns with a state return. She finds her work interesting and entertaining since the field of accounting is continuously changing. Time flew by while they’ve worked hard and played hard. As our intern, Victoria says, “It seems like only last week I was driving to LA for my first day of training.”

In Westlake Village, Leif has been busy at work completing a cash analysis and accounts receivable for a client’s 2018 review with his team. Additionally, he calculated ratios such as “days’ sales in ending receivables” and “A/R turnover” to help them better understand the change in accounts receivable over the past three years. Katrina and Peyman are both working on tax returns such as an amended return and 1065 Partnership returns. For this week, Becky learned how to complete a Power of Attorney form, while Riley is working on wrapping up his projects.

All the interns emphasized how friendly and helpful the staff is at their offices and they feel that they are truly welcomed at the firm. Our intern Icy states that the “professionals here are not only approachable but very intelligent and amazing at what they do.” As the internship wraps up, we wish our interns the best in their future endeavors, and we will sure miss them!
