Karen has over 20 years of experience providing tax consulting and compliance services to closely held private companies across numerous industry sectors. Karen is a member of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisition practice and provides tax structuring and due diligence services for buy-side and sell-side transactions. Karen has extensive experience addressing complex partnership taxation issues and serving clients in the real estate industry. Karen is well versed in addressing the tax issues associated with complex transactions and their impact on the ultimate taxpayer, including partnership allocations, accounting method changes, passive activity rules, and the net investment income tax. Karen keeps her clients up-to-date on tax law changes in order to proactively address potential tax consequences with the goal of providing planning opportunities to achieve tax savings.

Karen received a master’s in business taxation and bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in business administration from the University of Southern California. Karen is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California. Karen serves as an adjunct professor for the Master of Science in Taxation program at California State University Northridge. Karen has authored many technical articles for such publication as Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Real Estate Journal, among others. She is actively involved in her community and has participated in numerous fundraising events for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society including serving as HCVT’s team captain for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s marathon. Karen began her career at KPMG LLP.
